Our organ, built in 1875, is feeling its age. Some pedal notes don’t work, the pipes need to be cleaned and repaired - there are 1044 of them! - we need new bellows and most mechanical parts need to be replaced. Our organ builder, Andrew Carter, has described it as in a ‘pretty desperate condition’!
How much will it cost?
The current estimate is £65,000 but we have already raised more than half. Now is the time for an extra push up the keyboard.
Is it worth it? Yes!
Experts agree that it is a very fine
instrument which we are lucky to have. It is perfect for All Saints and we must show the faith and courage needed to restore it for future generations. Imagine Christmas without the organ thundering forth ‘O come all ye faithful!’
Is the date booked for the work? Yes!
The organ will be dismantled in May 2009 and the job is due to be finished in the autumn.
Do we qualify for any help? Yes,!
Applications for funding are being made, boosted by the evidence of the commitment and determination already shown by the church and the community
What can we do?
